The Honorary Consul wishes you and your family a Happy Deepawali. Deepawali is one of the most significant festival for the Hindus. The celebration for Deepawali usually lasts for five days where people light their house with candles, fairy lights, and diyos, traditional oil lamps.
In the first day, people worships crows by feeding them.
In the second day, the dog is worshipped by hanging garlands on their necks and giving them treats.
Today is the third day which marks Laxmi Puja, where you worship Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. Hindus decorate their houses by making colourful Rangoli in the entrance of the residence and putting up flowers and lights to make their place beautiful.
In the fourth day, farmers worship the oxen. This day is also the start of a new year for Newars, so they celebrate Mha Puja.
The last day is Bhai Tika where sisters put tika on their brothers and exchange blessings and gifts with each other.
The Honorary Consul sends everyone his warmest greetings on this festive occasion. May this auspicious day color your life with light and happiness.
